It’s time for New Zealand country music fans to celebrate!
At long last, and in celebration of the 2 DVD/CD combo’s of this much loved and iconic 80′s television show, you get to see some of the original stars “live on stage” for the first time that the show has ever been taken out of its Christchurch Town Hall environment.
As was the case on TV, Ray Columbus hosts the show in his inimitable cheeky style, and welcomes some of the biggest names to ever appear on “That’s Country” – the irrepressible Suzanne Prentice, the wild man from Australia – Jade Hurley, and our own Toni Williams who was the star of the recent Country Music Awards. These Artists are supported by backing vocalists, Echo’N Harmony. In addition excitement has peaked at the announcement that Legends Award Winner, and current chart-topper, Dennis Marsh is to appear as Special Guest on this tour.
This is a truly “live” concert tour, and the singers will be accompanied by members of the original band that appeared on the television show. Gary Sammons, Doug Petrie, Brian Ringrose, Paddy Long and the MD will be Mike McCarthy.
Re-live some of the greatest country music ever written, songs like “Country Cookin’ “, “It’s A Heartache”, “Try A Little Kindness”, “You Don’t Know Me” and much, much more when the genuine and OFFICIAL “That’s Country” tour comes to town!
All performances are at 7.30pm. The above performers perform the entire show. You can also purchase A “COMBO” CONSISTING OF A DVD AND CD at the time of purchasing your ticket. Following up the double platinum success of last year’s “That’s Country” DVD release comes “That’s Country Encore” a 23 track DVD featuring more outstanding performances from the original high rating and much loved television show. The content was selected from the many episodes now held at the TVNZ Avalon archives and includes exceptional live performances from the legends of New Zealand country music along with international guest stars from Nashville and Australia. Like the previous release the DVD package will also include a CD version of the show’s music for the fans to enjoy.

In March 2012 for the first time iconic 80’s TV show “That’s Country” will hit the road on an extensive national tour. The shows will feature stars from the original series – Suzanne Prentice, Ray Columbus, Australia’s Jade Hurley, Tony Williams plus members of the original “That’s Country” band. As an additional bonus they will be joined by special guest star, 2011 Country Music Legend Award winner, Dennis Marsh.

There was a lot of blarney, but also every song was instantly recognised from, ‘Irish Eyes Are Smiling’ and ‘Danny Boy’ thru to Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’, The Beatles ‘Twist & Shout’ and, of course. a superb rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’.
